Digging in on Drives and Volunteer Efforts
You might recall a recent post we put together detailing our time volunteering with Camp for All, or glimpsed photos of beautification efforts we’ve taken on in and around Houston. We relish the opportunity to step outside the office and give back when we can, but we make a difference on the home front, too. All year long, employees have the opportunity to pay $5 to wear blue jeans on Fridays. Those donations go to our Contributions fund, to be distributed to worthy causes and/or individuals when needed. A recent BCH book drive we took on during the Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation’s Week of Giving brought in 77 books, and financial donations, too, for Literacy Now – Houston. Our Contribution Committee also organizes food drives benefiting the Houston Food Bank, especially around the holidays, when family feasts take on such importance. Holiday toy drives supporting the Faulk Foundation and donations supporting animal organizations such as the Lucky Kitty Crew also come into play. The way we see it, we have a responsibility to all our neighbors — human and animal alike!
Giving Back on the Professional Front
We view the communities surrounding our industry to be just as important as the community we call home. As such, we are actively involved in many associations and professional development groups. Our goal is to remain on top of the latest industry news that we can then pass along to our clients, or incorporate into their business strategies moving forward. That involvement also gives us the opportunity to make our voices heard (and opinions known) on important topics, so that we can help shape a successful industry moving forward. Stop by our Associations page for a high-level overview of the organizations to which we lend our time and talents.
At BCH, we know we’re all in this together (and not just during this season of giving). If we can do our part to make the world around us a little bit better, everybody benefits. If you’re interested in learning more about our work in and around the community, be sure to stop by our Associations and Culture & Community pages. Of course, if you have any questions, you are always welcome to contact our team.
